BS in Early Childhood - Mercer University - 1997

ESOL certification add-on - 1999

M.Ed in Administration and Supervision - University of West Georgia - 2005

I began teaching at Eastside Elementary in 1997. I taught 2nd grade for a couple of years. Then, I was given the opportunity to begin a computer lab and be the technology teacher for grades K-5. After my first son was born, I left the teaching field for a few years to be a mommy. I have since returned to the wonderful career of teaching. In 2008, I taught 3rd grade at Arbor Station. Then, when Mason Creek Elementary school opened in 2009, I had the opportunity to be a part of beginning the new school where I taught 3rd grade and 5th grade.  Now, I am very excited to call Bill Arp Elementary my home, as I begin another year as a Patriot and the ESOL teacher.

Hello, my name is Tina Harris. I grew up in Douglas County and attended Winston Elementary, Chapel Hill Middle, and graduated from Alexander High School in 1990. After graduating, I attended Mercer University and received an education degree. I began my teaching career at Eastside Elementary. After teaching for a few years, we began our family. I left teaching to be a mom.  While being home, I became self-employed and worked for a number of years as a building contractor. It was very interesting; however, my heart was always in education. I returned to the very rewarding teaching field in 2008.

I have been married to my childhood sweetheart and wonderful husband for 24 years. We have two great boys and a sweet little girl who are my heart. Both of my boys are very involved in sports, so we are always on the go. I spend most of my spare time at the ballfield, and I love it!

I enjoy being with children. My classroom certainly becomes my extended family. It is so amazing to watch children learn and grow. I believe all children have something wonderful. They have so many grand possibilities ahead of them. My job is to help them become prepared for these future opportunities. It is very important to me to provide them with a safe, warm and risk-free learning environment, so they can reach their highest potential.

This is going to be a GREAT year! I love being a part of the Bill Arp Patriot family.
